When your body has been living in survival mode for too long.

Trauma isn’t only about what happened to you…
it’s about what your nervous system had to learn in order to survive.

You may appear “high-functioning” on the outside, while inside you feel:

  • Constantly on edge or shut down
  • Emotionally reactive or numb
  • Exhausted, even after rest
  • Stuck in patterns you understand logically, but can’t seem to change

This isn’t weakness.
It’s a nervous system that adapted to keep you safe.

Trauma Lives in the Nervous System — Not Just the Mind

Many people come to therapy understanding why they feel the way they do…
but still feeling unable to change it.

That’s because trauma is not resolved through insight alone.

It can show up as:

  • Anxiety, panic, or chronic overwhelm
  • Emotional dysregulation
  • People-pleasing, perfectionism, or hyper-independence
  • Shutdown, avoidance, or numbness
  • Difficulty feeling safe in relationships
  • Living in fight, flight, freeze, or fawn

These are not character flaws.
They are adaptive survival responses.

in your body, your emotions, and the therapeutic relationship.

This is not about pushing, reliving, or “digging” before you’re ready.

  • Increase regulation and emotional capacity
  • Gently shift patterns that no longer serve you
  • Build safety in the present, not just insight about the past
  • Move at a pace your system can tolerate

Healing happens when your body no longer feels like it has to stay on guard.

  • Have lived through chronic stress, emotional neglect, or relational trauma
  • Feel stuck in survival patterns despite self-awareness
